Illinois Dames USO Great Lakes
Patriotic Service programs are designed to promote responsible citizenship and the study of American history with particular emphasis on the fundamental documents, traditions and workings of our country and its government.  Some of our projects include:

  • Sponsorship of Washington Workshops Congressional Seminars for high school students.  Winners of our essay contest are awarded a one-week trip to a Washington Workshops program in Washington, DC, including round-trip transportation.
  • Educational programs for high school and elementary school students focusing on history, and the American Flag.  Specific programs include the Bill of Rights and the Young Patriots programs.
  • Scholarship awards to graduate students of American history.
  • Service to our men and women serving in the military, and their families here at home.  Our projects benefit servicemen and women during wartime and include our popular “No Dough Dinners” at the USO Great Lakes.

WW LogoThe award-winning Washington Workshops seminars bring to life the lessons of American democracy. These six day programs seek to increase citizen participation in the electoral process while increasing students knowledge of contemporary events through informative, on site dialogue sessions with leaders from both the federal government and private sectors.

To constantly seek out new information, to become involved and to find new answers are the timeless missions of youth and the goals of the Washington Workshops Foundation.
